Boundary Science Research

Boundary Science Research explores the meeting of mind and matter through the question of the boundary itself. Does a boundary merely separate two fields, or is it the place where two fields meet and give rise to something new?

A boundary is always poised between the impossible uniqueness of what appears and the generality of the laws through which it becomes intelligible. It is the place where the singular meets the universal, where what cannot be fully named enters into form. A boundary expresses the movement by which the forbidden becomes lawful, the exception becomes articulated, and an undifferentiated space becomes identified.

Something previously hidden is brought into relation with what is known. The unique is not reduced to the general, nor is the general abandoned for the unique. Rather, the two are held in a productive tension through which meaning, form, and identity become possible. A boundary is the place where the world discovers how to express itself.
